2021 AHF July Newsletter

Abba House Foundation attaches great importance to facilitating the education of ‘At Risk” children. Our focus is on girls and most of those we care for come from Hilltribe areas, where getting even a minimum level of education can be difficult, poverty and distance from schools being two mitigating factors. They are often born into a poverty cycle, where because of lack of formal education and no particular skills training, it is difficult to gain entry into the job market. The result often is a cycle of teenage marriages, young parenthood and marriage breakups or being lured by ‘agents’ who promise good jobs in the city, but this usually leads to sex trafficking.

Thanks to sponsorship such as we receive from our supporters, we are able to enroll our AH girl’s at the local Thai schools and as far as possible see them through to graduating, after completing Grade 12. Extra Conversational English classes are given four times a week and this gives them an edge in a tourist orientated country. When the girls leave school, they are now young adults, more mature and more ambitious. Their horizons have been expanded and are exposed to more possibilities in the work place. (A few are able to pursue Tertiary education, but AH does not provide for this. They have to rely on private sponsorship)

AH aims to fulfil the educational, practical and spiritual needs of the children in our care. On the spiritual side, we strive for our girls to receive God’s unconditional love in their hearts and to see themselves as precious and beautiful. There is a regular Wednesday Night Bible Study and a Sunday Worship Service in which they participate, especially in the music ministry. We pray and trust for the gospel to bear fruit in their lives and that they would be able to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with others.

When the girls leave AH, we trust that their overall education will motivate them and equip them for a better future. That they should feel valued and not ‘left behind’ or ‘abandoned’ by one or more family members. Education definitely instills confidence and a belief in themselves and what they can achieve.

Back to school for our junior pupils and half of the senior girls too. The rest still studying online. They were very excited to get back to school and see their friends again. Blessings…..

The pictures above are of the girls studying online. We are so blessed to have all these computers available and Thailand has fast and inexpensive internet. Thank you once more for enabling us to purchase the necessary equipment.
